David Silva Revés
Independent Curator, Art Critic, Researcher
(Lisbon, PT, 1992). Art Critic, Independent Curator and Researcher. Currently doing a Master of Communication Sciences – Contemporary Culture and New Technologies (NOVA University, Lisbon, PT). I’ve a Master of Theory of Art and Curatorship (College of Fine Arts, University of Porto, PT) and training in History of Contemporary Art, Neo-avant-garde movements and Aesthetics (National Society of Fine Arts, PT). My work passes through an intersectional thinking where I cross a thought about digital media, new technologies and the formation of individual and collective bodies in the spectrum of political landscapes. As founding member of Petri [with y] collective I was responsible for programming Painel Gallery (2017-2018, Porto, PT) during which I’ve promoted an exhibition cycle focused on creating immersive experiences that problematized the contemporary gaze marked by hyper-technological relational in-puts, the production of new political bodies or the ethical appearence of images. As curator I was responsable for several exhibitions working with portuguese emerging artists showing them home and abroad. More recently I’ve curated the work of swiss paisagist Michael Biberstein in the old chapel of Municipal Museum of Faro, PT. I’ve co-created and co-moderate, along with Catrina Real, the cycle of talks with young creators “In Assembly” that took place at Appleton Cultural Association, Lisbon, PT. I also develop a critical and essayistic practice with which I regulary contribute for some publications, magazines, artist-books and artistic or academic projects.
