Eva Gaspar (b.2000, Portugal) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Lisbon. Working primarily with installation, she takes on performance, photography, video and sculpture to create her pieces. Appropriating objects and defying their innate purpose and environment Gaspar builds her own narratives and challenges viewers to see traditional iconography and narratives in a new context. Her work explores internal questionings on themes such as gender, religion, family, personal memory, and Portuguese collective memory. She has received the Acquisition Prize by Private Collector in the context of the Young Art Prize Exhibition Millennium BCP Foundation (2021) and has regularly showed in collective exhibitions in Portugal and London since 2021. Her work is present in the Artist Books Collection, Art Library of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Múltiplos Collection, Carpe Diem, João Luís Traça Collection and other Private Collections.
