Marilá Dardot (Belo Horizonte, Brazil, 1973) lives and works in Lisbon. MFA at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in 2003. The artist makes use of diverse materials and media ranging from videos, photographs, prints, sculptures, paintings and actions to large-scale and site-specific installations. Language and literature are her sources of constant inspiration. Some of her projects include collaborations with other artists, friends or the public itself, generating structural changes in certain collective space and cultural references. Recent solo exhibitions in institucional spaces include Museu da Cidade, São Paulo (2016) and Sesc Palladium, Belo Horizonte (2015). She has created outdoor projects for Montalvo Arts Center (USA), Inhotim, (Brazil) Frieze Sculpture Park (London) and The Wanås Foundation (Sweden). Dardot has participated in significant group exhibitions in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, The Netherlands, Turkey, Doha, Japan, USA, Norway, including Bienal de São Paulo (2006 and 2010). Marilá Dardot is represented in several art collections including Inhotim, Coleção Gilberto Chateuabriand, Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo, Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, Museu de Arte da Pampulha and Museu de Arte Moderna Aloísio Magalhães (Brazil), Colecção Madeira Corporate Services Drawing Collection (Portugal), The Sayago & Pardon Collection (USA), and Fundación Otazu (Spain).
