Nathan Braga

Nathan is a PhD student in Contemporary Art and Culture (PPGARTES-UERJ), Master in Arts from the same institution, Specialist in Artistic Languages, Culture and Education (IFRJ), Bachelor and Degree in Visual Arts (UERJ).
He was an exchange student of Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca (2017) - Spain, having been the second Brazilian to receive the Santander Iberoamerican Scholarship for such a course. In addition, he studied Contemporary Artistic Practices at the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts (2015). He also attended Imersões Poéticas da Escola Sem Sítio (2018) and The creative process with Charles Watson (2018).
Since 2014, he has worked with art education in formal and non-formal spaces. In 2022, he served as Educational Supervisor at the 13th Mercosul Biennial. Afterwards, he worked in the same role at exhibitions at Farol Santander POA. Currently, he is an Educational Coordination Assistant and Editorial Coordinator of the Teaching Material for the 14th Mercosul Biennial. He works as a research fellow at the Art Teaching Laboratory (LEA), linked to the UERJ Institute of Arts. The LEA is a Technological Development Unit (UDT) that has the support and financing of institutions that promote education, aiming at the creation and development of social technologies that encourage and improve educational methodologies that innovate in the art teaching process, combining popular knowledge, social organization and technical-scientific knowledge.
Nathan received an honorable mention for participating in the XIII Bienal de Arte Joven Argentina, AR (2018) and was second place in the sculpture category at the 15 Salão de Artes Visuais de Ubatuba, BR (2018). He has works in the collections of the Collegium Museum, the Rio Art Museum, the Rio Grande do Sul Museum of Contemporary Art and the FAAP Brazilian Art Museum. He held 6 solo exhibitions, the most recent being at the Paço Imperial in Rio de Janeiro (2024) throughout his career, in addition to numerous collective exhibitions, such as Cuir sou - notes on affectivity, Verve Galeria - São Paulo/SP (2024), Muamba: brazilian traces of movement, Ruby Cruel Gallery - London (2023), The collection: dialogues. Volumen 2: time is an illusion, Collegium Museum - Arévalo (2023), Postcards from the edge, Bortolami Gallery - New York (2020) and 13 La Bienal de Arte Joven - Argentina (2019).
He has published texts in magazines, books and has already organized the publication of a book called "Vértices e Vertigens: arte e formation humano", which brings together art and education workers from different institutions and regions in Brazil. Nathan participated as an artist in the residencies: Residência Artística Pesquisa e Criação do Chão (2023), Residência Lab. De Arte Educação Galeria .ISTA (2023), Residência ECARTA (2020) and Residência Artística FAAP (2019).
He served as Executive Editor of Revista Concinnitas (2019-2022) and Revista Ensaia (2016-2018). In 2016, Nathan worked as an assistant to the artist Jorge Menna Barreto, helping in his studio, including in the production of the work Restauro, which was part of the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo.
