Born in 1960, in Coimbra, Portugal. Lives and works between Lisbon and Shanghai. Graduated in Sculpture from the Universidade de Lisboa’s School of Fine Arts (FBAUL); completed the Advanced Course in Visual Arts at Ar.Co; holds a Master’s Degree in Intermedia Visual Arts from the Universidade de Évora and a Doctorate in Contemporary Art from the Universidade de Coimbra’s College of the Arts. Grant holder from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. Exhibits regularly since 1999; she took part in group exhibitions held at such institutions as Culturgest, Lisbon, Portugal – "Disseminações" (2001), Centro de Arte de Salamanca, Spain – "Comer o no Comer" (2002), Falconer Gallery, Grinnell, Iowa, USA – "Where Are You From? - Contemporary Art from Portugal” (2008), MoCA (Museum of Contemporary Art), Shanghai – "Made in Shanghai" (2008), Museu do Chiado/MNAC – "Arte Portuguesa do séc. XX 1960-2010" (2012) and Palácio dos Duques, Guimarães – "O Castelo em 3 Atos" (2014), China World Art Museum, Beijing, China – “Onde É A China?” (2014) and Villa Savoye - Le Corbusier, “De la Ville à La Villa – Chandigarh Revisited” (2016). Some of her most important solo shows took place at Museu do Chiado/MNAC – "Breviário do Quotidiano #2" (1999), Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga – "Natureza-morta" (2004), Museu Nogueira da Silva, Braga – "From:, To:, Via:" (2012), Museu do Neorealismo, Vila Franca de Xira – "Obra sem senão" (2012), Museu de Arte Popular, Lisbon – “Antes morta que Burra” (2014), Convento de Cristo, Tomar – “Tomara que chova” (2015), Arquivo Municipal Fotográfico – “Breviário do Quotidiano #8 – Lisboa” (2016) and MAAT, Lisbon “APQhome – MAAT” (2017). Her work is featured in several collections, namely: Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea - Museu do Chiado; Ar.Co; Coleção Costa Rodrigues; Coleção Figueiredo Ribeiro; Coleção António Cachola; Coleção Vieira de Almeida; Câmara Municipal de Lisboa; Caixa Geral de Depósitos – Culturgest and Fundação EDP. She has attended international residency programmes, with grants from Fundação Gulbenkian; Fundação Oriente; Institut français du Portugal - Cité international des Arts and Criatório - Câmara Municipal do Porto. Winner of the 2014 Best Visual Arts Exhibition Prize from Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores - SPA.
