Elizabeth Hudson

Elizabeth Hudson (GB) is an artist who researches commons, public space, ecology and peer learning. Her practice spans participatory projects, printmaking, games, physical interventions, film and writing. She was researcher in residence at Grizedale Arts (2020) and co-organiser of non-profit digital publisher SOPA. A graduate from Glasgow School of Art, Scotland (2009-13), Elizabeth has also had supported training from the European School of Urban Game Design (2019-20), Jerwood mentoring programme (2017-18) and Scottish Sculpture Workshop (2016-17). Recent projects include: a peer-learning programme about bees, produced in collaboration with Šilainiai Project and residents of Šilainiai, Kaunus, Lithuania (2019); a game for sharing testimonies of enclosures of public space for Something Beautiful, La Vallée, Brussels, Belgium and EIRPAC International Meeting of Community Artistic Practices, Porto, Portugal (both 2019); a public shopping trolley joust satirising the city branding of deviance for Glasgow International, Scotland (2018), and a participatory performance-lecture on privatisation of space and folk tradition for Rites and Terrabytes Inter-format Symposium, Nida Art Colony, Lithuania (2018). She has had solo exhibitions at Glasgow Project Room (2017), Intermedia, Centre for Contemporary Art Glasgow (2016) and Bocs Celf, Carnarfon, Wales (2015). As a member of curatorial collective VERBureau, she co-curated the projects ‘Pokey Hat’ and ‘Who Owns the Cone?’, about ice cream and societal integration, for Glasgow International and Likky Ruph, New York (both 2016); ‘The Gift If There Is Any’, which was shortlisted for the Workweek Prize, at Art Licks Weekend, London (2015) and ‘Penumbra’ at APT Gallery, London (2014). www.elizabethvhudson.com
