Zé Ardisson
Visual artist
Lisbon, Portugal
Born in Évora in 1988, lives and works between Lisbon and Bali, Indonesia. Graduated in Communication (2011), attended the painting course at the National Society of Fine Arts in 2014 and since then has participated in several group exhibitions. Highlights include 12 O’clock (2016), Cola Cuspo (2018) and No Sonho do Homem que Sonhava, o Sonhado acordou (2022) at MNAC. Zé Ardisson also has solo exhibitions, such as the most recent “Lieu de Vie” on Side B of the Balcony gallery (2020). Memories, recurrent dreams, fears: elements that run through the artist's works and contaminate his works, giving them an admittedly biographical nature. Physical and psychological places of his affections, family heirlooms and childhood desires towards new geographies; to the waves and palm trees of a paradisiacal destination. More than (re)telling past events, uncovering a truth omitted through imagination, talking about the present conjuncture, it is interesting to operate new logics of organization of layers of visuality and mix them in a cadence of relations with noises of another materiality, heterogeneous, unforeseen meanings.
