Begins her practice in the 90´s at Revista Kapa following as a set photographer collaborating with Madragoa|Gemini Films with Sharunas Bartas, João Botelho, Pedro Costa, Raquel Freire, Margarida Gil, João César Monteiro, Manoel de Oliveira, e Werner Schroeter among others. Publishes with Assírio e Alvim, DN, Ghost Editions, Inrockuptibles, Libération, Marie Claire, Le Monde Público and Pierre von Kleist.

Mariana Viegas' work explores the use of Photography – as a reality documental display – creating links between text and time, building stories of social constellations and/or individual monuments.
